In 2010, there were estimated 677 million agnostics globally according to The World’s Religions in Figures: An Introduction to Religious Demography (2013). Agnostics include those who believe it is impossible to know, or profess uncertainty in knowing, “whether or not there is an ultimate reality or God.” Also included are “secularists, materialists, and humanists.”
China had the largest number of agnostics in 2010, followed by the United States, Germany, India, and North Korea. The map below shows the top 10 agnostic populations in millions.
